The ChengrongEra hand-wash whole-house UF water filter is specially designed to turn cloudy, muddy rural natural water, such as well water and spring water into crystal-clear water. Its main function is to remove sediment, rust, colloids, and other particulate impurities from raw water, preventing contaminants from building up in household plumbing, which can cause secondary pollution, bacterial growth, and accelerated pipe corrosion.
This system does make raw water much cleaner and clearer. However, its 0.1 μm filtration precision cannot remove bacteria and viruses. If the water source is safe, the filtered water can be safely drunk after boiling.
And there is a common misunderstanding in the industry. Take RO membranes for example. Many customers assume that any membrane labeled “RO” can achieve 0.1 nm filtration precision. In reality, RO membranes vary greatly in materials, technology, precision, salt rejection, durability, and stability. They are all called RO membranes and may claim 0.1nm precision, but only real testing shows the true performance.
There is often a gap between consumer understanding and professional standards. To someone unfamiliar with water treatment, all “ultrafiltration products” may seem the same. But to professional manufacturers, the differences are huge.
The same applies to ultrafiltration water filters.

But from a professional perspective: PVDF reinforced membranes typically have a filtration precision of 0.1 μm, which does not meet the standard of true ultrafiltration. They should be classified as microfiltration.
A genuine ultrafiltration membrane uses a PVC internal-pressure structure with a precision of 0.01 μm, which can effectively block bacteria and viruses. However, 0.01 μm PVC internal-pressure membranes require very specific usage conditions and maintenance. Most ordinary users lack the professional knowledge to operate them properly, leading to poor experience and short service life.
That is why the rural whole-house water treatment market widely prefers 0.1 μm PVDF reinforced membranes: they cannot remove bacteria or viruses, but they are stable, durable, and extremely effective at clarifying muddy, cloudy rural water. If the source water is safe, filtered water can be boiled and consumed safely.
So to answer the original question: Why can the real ultrafiltration system remove bacteria, but the ChengrongEra hand-wash whole-house filter cannot?
Because only the 0.01 μm PVC internal-pressure ultrafiltration membrane can block bacteria and viruses. The 0.1 μm PVDF reinforced membrane (often used in hand-wash whole-house filters) cannot, even if some sellers falsely claim 0.01 μm precision.
