[Founder’s Journey] From a Small Hardware Workshop to a Leader in Ultrafiltration Water Purification: Sweat and Dreams Along the Way (Part 2)
(Serial No. 004)
Story goes on, In early 2011, just as the factory stabilized and I began to breathe easier, life struck a devastating blow. On Lunar New Year’s Eve, my father was hit by a car while crossing the street. By the time he reached the hospital, he was paralyzed from the neck down. A critical condition notice arrived instantly. That evening, I returned home to fetch daily necessities. My mother asked why my eyes were red—"Just the wind," I lied. But my wife knew I’d been crying. Seeing the untouched feast on the table, tears streamed down my face uncontrollably.
Dad spent nearly two months hospitalized. Mr. Yuan handled all factory affairs single-handedly during this time. Miraculously, Dad recovered well, though his hands remained numb. The medical evaluation dismissed it as "typical aging symptoms," so we received no compensation beyond hospital fees. I let it go.
Perhaps shaken by the accident, Mom adamantly insisted on returning to our hometown, no matter how we pleaded. With help from old classmates, I borrowed money to build a house for my parents. By late 2012, they settled back home. From then on, I vowed to spend every weekend with them—some priorities demand action, not words.
That same tumultuous 2011 brought unexpected opportunity. A client producing pipeline ultrafiltration systems wanted to sell his factory. Broke but bold, we decided to acquire it instantly. By the time Mr. Yuan arrived, the factory had already been sold—but its former owner hadn’t. After six months of persuasion, we convinced him to partner with us. Thus began our journey into full-casing ultrafiltration production. Mr. Yuan, ever the innovator, revolutionized welding techniques from manual to automated, redesigned stamping processes, even custom-built machinery.
Our disruptive approach shook the industry. Orders skyrocketed. "Innovation as soul" became company dogma. We completely redefined manufacturing standards for water purifier casings—soon becoming the industry’s blueprint, endlessly copied from technology to corporate culture.
As demand grew, we expanded with new workshops and assembly lines for complete ultrafiltration systems. But unstable filter membrane quality from suppliers forced our hand—we established our own membrane production line. Investing in a struggling membrane factory, I gave Manager Song one directive: "Spare no cost, guarantee quality." Within a year, our membranes outperformed all competitors in stability and efficiency. The universe, it seemed, kept sending angels disguised as challenges.
Amid cutthroat competition, I held one ironclad rule: quality must rank in the top 1%. Chengrong’s survival hinged on this. Critics called our management "wastefully expensive," but time proved them wrong. Today, multiple global brands trust us with OEM production, and we collaborate with Shenzhen University on membrane R&D.
Our toughest hurdle? Combating performance decay. When a top brand demanded <30-40% flux decline after filtering 200 tons of water, we delivered 7-15%. Skeptical clients retested—then stared in disbelief. "How?" they asked.
The answer lies in relentless R&D. While others avoided the grind, we optimized materials through countless iterations. By 2023, Chengrong membranes boasted 40% greater toughness and flow rate than rivals, with zero odor—and we broke new ground with chlorine-removing membranes, a global first.
Expanding into engineering water treatment systems, we now control every process from design to assembly. No shortcuts, no compromises—only integrity. Our municipal ultrafiltration solutions have matured into unmatched, proprietary systems.
With management averaging 8 years tenure and 80% staff staying over 6 years, we’ve built an ultrafiltration empire spanning R&D, production molds, metalwork, and complete purification systems. Three invention patents, eight software copyrights, 53 technical patents, 25 design patents—and 3 million yuan annual R&D investment—set us apart. Who else dares commit like this?
Over a decade in this field, I’ve learned: mastering one craft demands resisting distractions, enduring solitude. In moments of doubt, I anchor myself—do the work before you wholeheartedly. The rest? Let destiny decide.
