When I was very young, my father told me I had to be a reliable person.

He said a man's greatest charm is keeping his word. Even if it's just a joke, he must do what he says, this lesson is applies to clients, friends, and family.

You either need to be cautious in what you say or keep your word.

Being reliable means following through on every promise you make to others. If you find you can't keep your promise, you must let them know immediately.

I remember many years ago, when we first started our business, the company wasn't performing well. We didn't have enough money to pay our suppliers at the end of the year. So, my wife and I went to visit them to apologize. To our surprise, the supplier understood my difficulties, and for the next decade or so, she continued to be a supplier to our Chengrong factory.

As Chengrong grew, we gradually gained a reputation in the industry, and our suppliers also became more widely known.

I think the same applies to branding and marketing: reliability should be paramount.

Where expertise is possible, it must be done professionally, avoiding blind exaggeration. Marketing should also be based on credibility.

Take the example of water purifier flow rate. Many water purifier vendors, to alleviate customer concerns about water pressure and flow rate, play word games with customers, confusing flow rate with the purifier's membrane flux.

For example, they tell customers their purifiers have a flow rate of 8 or 10 tonnes per hour. Consumers, seeing such high flow rates, assume it must be good, and place an order.

But I believe the most important thing in business is honesty and integrity. We can't make irresponsible claims just because consumers don't understand, because they will eventually understand.

In reality, 99% of household main pipes in China, even without a water purifier, have a maximum flow rate of only around 4 tonnes, far from the so-called 8 or 10 tonnes. This is because municipal tap water pressure is constant, and so are pipe sizes, which are limited to 4-inch, 6-inch, and 1-inch pipes. Consequently, the upper limit of water flow is also constant.

This upper limit is roughly 4-5 tons of water.

So, in our view, telling consumers that your water purifier can handle 8 or 10 tons of water isn't just a matter of false labeling. The product itself reflects your character, and this is also a matter of integrity.

So what are these 8T and 10T?

It refers to the water production capacity of the water purifier, which in our industry is known as membrane flux.

Membrane flux is related to water pressure, membrane area, and membrane quality.

For example, why we at Chengrong are so dedicated to membrane R&D?

It is because external suppliers' membranes are either extremely expensive or of poor quality, failing to meet our company's quality standards.

After years of research and development, our Chengrong ultrafiltration membranes have achieved strength and toughness that are 40% higher year-on-year, flux that is 40-50% higher year-on-year, and are also slightly more resistant to fouling and clogging, assuming, of course, the same pressure.

However, these are not the focus today.

Membrane flux is not equivalent to water flow rate.

Under normal circumstances, water flow rate will never reach 8T or 10T, as household water pressure and pipe size are relatively constant.

However, membrane fluxes of 8T or 10T are possible, as long as the membrane area is large enough. Of course, because Chengrong's ultrafiltration membranes are of higher quality, we can achieve fluxes of 8T or 10T with less membrane area.

What are the benefits of a high membrane flux?

It ensures that even if you open multiple faucets at home, the water pressure remains constant, preventing it from decreasing and causing a poor user experience.

Membrane flux refers to a water purifier's water production capacity, similar to a blood-forming organ that continuously delivers a constant flow of water at a constant pressure into household pipes.

Water production capacity must always exceed water consumption to ensure a sufficient supply of water in the pipes. Therefore, in theory, a larger membrane area is better.

However, a larger membrane area increases costs, so we must strike a balance between a good water experience and cost. This balance depends on the number of faucets in a customer's home.

Therefore, we recommend the appropriate size of water purifier based on the number of faucets in a customer's home.

We don't just recommend 8T or 10T right away.

The most important things in business are honesty, integrity, and sincerity.
